Anda bisa berbahasa Indonesia? Baca artikel terjemahannya di sini! Okay, let’s face it. I’ve got several of my accounts hacked. What’s worse is that some of the accounts were holding some of my money (e-money, since two of three hacked accounts feature “balance” for easier transaction). You can read the stories over at Technoverse (Indonesian language). I didn’t write about the last hacking attempt, since I’ve finally become embarrassed of it and think “Okay, this has to stop. Three is so enough that it’s not funny anymore”. I used to have 2 different passwords for most of my account, probably that’s why my accounts got hacked so easily. All of them have the same email or similar username. I’ve read somewhere that the most secure password is the password that even you cannot remember. Okay, that’s my mistake… Use password managers. It’s for your own safety. To help me redeem myself, I’ve finally decided to use a password manager. In case you don’t know, password managers are apps which securely generate and store your passwords for you. There are numerous password manager apps available, such as Dashlane, LastPass, 1Password, and Password Keeper by Blackberry. In this article, I’m going to …
Wellcomm Touch1 Review: Wireless Charging for Cheap
Anda berbicara bahasa Indonesia? Baca artikel terjemahannya di sini! Wireless technology is the future, whether you like it or not… or at least, things are getting smaller and use less cord. Look at Apple’s retina MacBook for example, they only have 1 (yes, ONE) USB-C port, and instead of apologizing for being so stingy, they encourage their users to go wireless. The new MacBook Pros, another example, only have USB-C ports. To make up for it, they will sell you dongles at a discount. LG G3 Wireless Charger Okay, excuse my sarcasm, and let’s get back to wireless technology. Wireless chargers have been around for quite a while, probably since LG G3 (which is 3 years ago, if I’m not mistaken). It has become cheaper and cheaper since, with the latest culmination of the technology is Samsung’s Wireless Fast Charger, which is compatible with their latest flagships. Though I initially wasn’t interested in the technology, I saw my friend buy one, and it seemed convenient. So yeah, I thought of borrowing it and using it for a short while. You know, just to get the feel of it. And yes, thanks to his generosity, I’ve finally had the chance to …
Smartfren M3Z Review: Bigger and Better
Official Shot of Andromax M3Y and M3Z Anda berbicara bahasa Indonesia? Baca artikel terjemahan di sini! In my personal opinion and based on my experience, Smartfren is probably one of the better data-oriented telco in Indonesia. In terms of data speed, it might not be the fastest. However, in terms of coverage, I must say that Smartfren might outrun others. However, today we’re not talking about the telco operator. We’re talking about one of their next-gen Mi-Fi products. Yeah, I actually promised a reader here that I would review it, but life came up and I couldn’t finish the review… until now. Anyway, the model in question is the Smartfren Andromax M3Z. This router is not only bigger, but also better, in terms of both looks and functionality. With a more controlled and affordable price of Rp299,000.00, you can bring this baby back home, as well as 30GB of data for a month. Generous, right? So, what are you waiting for? Head past the break to read the rest of the review! Design and Packaging: Faux Leather Looks Good Andromax M3Z Box The box is very similar to Smartfren’s other products: dominated by red, with the product picture featured on …
Andromax A Quick Review: The Essentials
Andromax A Official Shot Anda berbicara bahasa Indonesia? Baca artikel terjemahannya di sini! Smartfren Andromax is widely known in Indonesia as the only brand which is outed by a telco operator, with the possibility of its price being subsidized. Smartfren Andromax A is the most affordable of the bunch. With the asking price of merely Rp650,000.00 (~U$50), it already supports LTE and VoLTE. Good news is, I have some time to tamper with this little fella. The bad news is, my time is limited since this phone is needed in my office. With this quick review, I’m going to share a little bit of my experience with the newest, (probably) the most affordable LTE handset in Indonesia. Quick review means this review may not be as comprehensive as my other reviews. Some things that could be cut are the number of camera samples and battery life. So, what are you waiting for? Head past the break to find out more about Smartfren Andromax A! Design and Packaging: Surprisingly Complete Andromax A In A Box My first impression of the box is that it doesn’t look cheap at all. In fact, this expectation is fulfilled when you open up the box. Inside, …
Charger Doctor Review: Measure Your Charger Quickly and Easily
Charger Doctor Official Shot Anda berbicara bahasa Indonesia? Baca artikel terjemahan di sini. Our mobile technology has come a very long way. We used to only be able to call and text through cell phones but look at us now: checking our emails, editing office documents, using applications to book restaurant reservations, hotel rooms, or even calling a cab! Our cell phones (dubbed smartphones now) are starting to replace our PCs… or it may already have. However, those features come at a cost: battery life. Our feature phones of old have the power to last for days, but now? Lasting a full day is already considered as an achievement. Unfortunately, our battery technology isn’t that advanced yet, so the engineers apparently decide to tweak with the technology behind the charging process: fast charging. That’s why our chargers are an important part of our lives now.The question is, how do we know if our charger is being honest with its specs? Normally, we’ll need some big-ass measuring device called avometer (in Indonesian, it’s called that, at least…) but I’ve found a small, convenient device that could measure currents. Though limited, it’s practically quite useful. Meet the Charger Doctor. How can I use this? Well… …
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 (Late) Review: A Surprising Package
We all know that smartphones have become a necessity. Maybe back in 2010, smartphones are luxurious gadgets only lucky people can afford. However, as time flies and smartphone markets become more and more mature, the cost of smartphone decreases. Now, almost all people can afford a smartphone (there’s even a ridiculously cheap smartphone in India. Google it.). Redmi Note 2 Official Shots Anyway, the proof of smartphone market maturity is evident from how powerful current mid-rangers are. Low-end smartphones also have become more powerful, with minimum of 1GB RAM and dual-core processor. I’m not going to talk about that. I’m going to talk about one prime example of how mid-rangers should be. Slick, powerful, gorgeous, and of course… affordable, but not cheap. That example is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2. Features in a nutshell Alright, I’m getting more and more subjective here. But really, guys, all subjective things I’ve said aside, I’m really impressed at what Xiaomi is offering here. In just Rp1.700.000,00, you can have a 13MP camera, 5.5″ FHD screen, octa-core processor, and 2GB RAM. Specs wise, it’s really unbelievable. However, does it really meet your expectation? Let’s find out. As usual, this review is going to be …
Andromax M2S Late Review: Quality Components = Quality Product?
I originally wanted to review this little gadget last year, a few weeks after it came up. However, as usual, laziness, jobs, and thoughts about thesis overpowered me. So, instead of reviewing this device, I ended up abusing it instead :p. However, thanks to that, I think now I know how I feel about this device. Enjoy the review! Though it’s a little bit late… Smartfren’s Current LTE Mi-Fi Lineup If you live in Indonesia, I’m sure you know about Smartfren. It’s probably the only CDMA operator left in the country (after Flexi’s acquisition by Telkomsel and Esia’s bankruptcy. Esia’s dead, isn’t it? CMIIW), and the highest-growing LTE operator. Highest-growing? Yes. Compared to major GSM operators (such as Telkomsel, XL Axiata, and Indosat), Smartfren has the largest LTE coverage to date. It’s amazing, considering how one of the major operators had a head start, but still loses to the CDMA operator. One of M2S Ads Anyway, to let people use their LTE, Smartfren outed a range of affordable smartphones and Mi-Fi devices, one of which I reviewed here. After a short while, Smartfren released another Mi-Fi device, the M2S, which is manufactured by LG Innotek, a subsidiary of LG Electronics, …
XiaoMi 16,000mAh Power Bank Review: Monstrous Lifesaver
XiaoMi’s Power Bank Family With the increasing number of non-removable batteries in flagships (even Samsung has moved away from its trademark Galaxy trend, which is SD Card and removable battery), the option to buy a spare battery is no longer a viable option. However, since we have to move forward with technology, we have no choice but to accept and adapt ourselves to these changes. What should we do, then? Simple, get power packs (or power banks, say a few people). The Power Bank’s Official Shot I’ve just got myself this little guy. Manufactured by the increasingly popular Chinese brand Xiaomi, this huge-but-compact power pack houses a total of 16,000mAh worth of juice (although Xiaomi also offers smaller 5,000 and 10,400 choices as well) to extend your gadget’s life. It’s quite affordable, it’s compact, it’s heavy, and it looks quite sexy. So, should you buy this thing? Let’s find out, shall we? Packaging and Design Packaged neatly in a white box The packaging is quite different compared to the brand’s smartphones. If their smartphones are housed in a brown box, the power pack is housed in a clean white box. Inside, you’ll find the power bank, along with a booklet …
Smartfren M2Y 4G Mi-Fi: A Pebble That Connects To The World
(Update: Due to comments of one of our readers +Detrio Detrio, I’ve updated the conclusion in this review. Be extra careful when using this device, as any cosmetic damage will void the warranty.)In this modern day and age, Internet has been moved from tertiary necessity to secondary (or even primary for certain people in certain countries). Internet connection is no longer tied to messy, limited cable, for wireless is the current way to go. Unfortunately, even so, not all areas in our life is covered by wireless networks. Although this limitation has been slightly overcome with cellular data connection, some devices still don’t support SIM cards such as laptops and Wi-Fi only tablets. Wi-Fi tethering would certainly kill our phone’s battery, so what’s the solution? That’s right, Mi-Fi. Mini Wi-Fi router which supports SIM cards and cellular data connection on the go. M2Y’s Official Shot One example of Mi-Fi is the ZTE MF90 I’ve reviewed quite some time ago. Recently, a new model has popped out on the horizon. Outed by Smartfren to promote its newly-launched 4G LTE network, the M2Y is the sibling of its counterpart, the M2P, and cheaper than its newer brethren, the M2S. Smartfren is one …
Logitech mk240 Mouse Combo Review
What do you do when you have a Windows tablet that doesn’t include a keyboard dock? No, you neither throw it into the trash can or merely play games with it. You’ll buy a set of wireless mouse and keyboard and of course, a USB OTG cable and put them together. That way, you’ll have yourself a complete ‘hybrid’ notebook, albeit cheap. Now, I’m pretty certain that you’re thinking that there’s no such set that has the right size for your tablet. It’d make you look very ridiculous, and you’ll be ashamed to bring it with you, even to your favorite café. Fortunately, I have a solution that I recently found. The Logitech mk240 Keyboard + Mouse Combo. It’s not the best solution, but at least it can save you some cash and a little bit of embarrassment. Logitech mk240 Mouse Combo Official Shot (White) With the width almost equal to a widescreen 10″ tablet, this might be the closest-to-perfection keyboard to pair with your lonely Windows tablet. It’s quite thick, but quite easy to carry, considering you have an extra slot in your backpack. Besides, it also includes a mouse in case you have a hard time navigating through …
